    Adult Social Tennis

    We run weekly member social tennis sessions for adult members age 16+ to come and play organised games of singles or doubles. Sessions are either organised by members or coach led. The member led sessions require no advance booking, just turn up and play; the coach led sessions have limited numbers and are bookable at reception.

    Sessions run outdoors in the summer when the weather is fair, and indoors in the winter. Outdoor sessions are free; indoor sessions have a small charge payable on the day.

    Times are as follows:

    Monday 12.30-2.30pm (Mixed, Member Led, Turn up and play)
    Thursday 7.30-9.30pm (Mixed, Coach Led, Book in advance at reception)
    Friday 9.00-10.30am (Female, Member Led, Turn up and play)
    Friday 10.30am-12.30pm (Male, Member Led, Turn up and play)

    Monthly Events

    Every month, there is a social tennis event running at the club. Activities vary monthly from a Saturday Social with takeaway food and drinks, a Mulled Wine event at Christmas, or a Strawberries & Cream competition in the summer. Activities are advertised on our newsletter and our social media channels.

    Parent & Child Sessions

    Sessions are for children and their parents or guardian to practice together on our shorter, red ball tennis courts. 

    Equipment is provided and a coach will be on hand to give helpful tips on feeding and rallying. No advanced booking required, turn up and play. Sessions are advertised on our newsletter and our social media channels.

    Group Coaching

    Group coaching is available year-round. We have a comprehensive group programme offering a range playing opportunities depending on your level and interests with coaching sessions which work on technique, to Cardio tennis sessions which build general fitness.

  • Competitions
    Competitions

    There are a variety of team and individual competitions running throughout the year.

    If you are playing in any form of tennis competition, you will need a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) membership. Membership is free. Please go to https://www.lta.org.uk/advantage/ and select Advantage Play+.

    Club Championships

    Played in August and September. Entries open late June/early July

    Over 20 singles and doubles competitions for all children and adults of all playing abilities. There are open events, age restricted events and handicap events. Knockout format with finals in mid-September.

    Team Leagues

    Played between September and March. Entries open July/August

    A multi-league competition with players placed into a league appropriate to their playing standard. Each team consists of 2 male and 2 female players. Fixtures played on set dates on an evening or weekend. Each fixture has combination of mixed, gents and ladies doubles matches played.

    Summer Superleagues

    Played between May and August. Fixtures on set dates on evenings or at the weekend. Entries open April.

    Summer equivalent of the Team Leagues.

    Daytime Leagues 

    Played throughout the year with leagues lasting around 8-12 weeks long. Entries open 3/4 weeks before the start of each new league. 

    Players play on set fixture dates, playing 4 sets per fixture. Pairings rotate every fixture. The winner is the player who wins the most sets at the end of the league.

    Ladies Leagues are played on a Wednesday and Thursday morning, Gents League are played on a Thursday afternoon.

    Club Matches

    Over 50 junior and senior teams are entered, playing against other clubs in a variety of league and knockout competitions throughout the year. There are two seasons: a summer season from April-August and a winter season from September-March.

    The junior competitions have competitions from 8 & under, up to 18 & under.

    The senior competitions have open and age restricted competitions. Pre-season training for senior teams ahead of the summer season takes place in February and March.

    Booking a Court

    All court and gym spaces are bookable online through the Skedda booking platform up to 8 days in advance. Charges apply for indoor tennis and squash courts.
